For the past two weeks I have been living in the [Frankfurt Airport Novotel](http://www.accorhotels.com/accorhotels/fichehotel/gb/nov/0719/fiche_hotel.shtml). Complete with a view of the Lufthansa Informatics Center – my workplace. Even if you don’t consider that it’s not really fun to look out of your “home” and have a view of your office, hotel life is starting to get seriously aggravating.
I can’t really store or cook food – Not that I have done much of the later, anyway, but for example I can only buy small amounts of drinks. The nice guys of Novotel cleared out the mini bar for me, but it doesn’t cool very well. I’m tired of having to use the airport shuttle and then the subway to go downtown, and I am especially tired of not having an internet connection at home. I’d love to add some new sections to this website – For example I want to bring back the Book Reviews section, as I have read several books over the last weeks and I have also been thinking about bringing back the geek site idea – but I can’t sit down and code php on my server if I can’t log into it. I can’t even do it offline, because I cannot download Postgres (I don’t even know whether it would run on my iBook), database dumps etc. A pity, because I have LOTS of time in the evenings and on the weekends.
Ohyeah and I am tired of waking up at 5:00 in the morning because of airplanes landing or people… amusing themselves. Okay, in all justice, the later does not happen very often.
Don’t get me wrong. The people who work at the Novotel are very nice and helpful. Some I will probably even miss once I move out of there. But a hotel just isn’t a home.
