Today, Germany’s parliament will elect a new Chancellor. Everything looks [poised for a Merkel victory](http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/world/europe/4458430.stm). I certainly do not agree with what the new “grand” coalition has agreed upon as their program for the next few years, but what else is new. I seriously doubt their weird program of social cutbacks will have the desired effect. But then, what can I do? I didn’t vote for these guys. I take comfort in the idea that I can always [leave](http://auswandern.pandemonium.de) if things get too bad.
However, once Merkel gets elected I lose two dinners at Subway’s, one to [Martin](http://www.martinlormes.de/blogger) and one to [Philipp](http://www.schwarzhuber.com/).
_Update, much later:_ [Merkel has been elected](http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/world/europe/4458430.stm). I didn’t want to focus so much on politics anymore, so I won’t.
_Update, November 23rd:_ And please let’s not forget that Mrs. [Merkel is a warmonger](http://www.sueddeutsche.de/ausland/artikel/637/57580/) too.
There’s my dinner.
There it is. :-S Oh well!
