So my radiator made noises, as it is wont to do. They were not too loud, but they annoyed me nonetheless. So I tried to vent it.
Well.
And I screwed up somehow. Now the radiator won’t close. The company who does heating maintenance for this building only has an answering machine (which they “regularly check”). Well, you’d think there’s some emergency service available in Frankfurt, wouldn’t you? You’d be wrong. I check with each and every emergency service from the yellow pages, and the ones the phone information service gave me.
Nothing.
Either no answer or, “do you know how far I would have to drive for that?”
Fucking bullshit.
So now the bloody radiator is slowly draining its water. I don’t even have a real bucket, so I got to empty the dish every five minutes or so. And I am annoyed. Really annoyed. Fucking annoyed at the company who does maintenance here, even more annoyed at the people who are supposed to offer a service and then are too lazy to do it. Pissed off with my bad luck, which always has these things happen to me.
I just hope the bloody radiator’s other side closes tightly and does not let any new water in, or I will sit here all night and empty water dishes.
I am really, really, really tired of things.
_Update, 10:50pm_
One company did call back. After taking my data, I asked them how much this would cost and told them they’d have to work on a bill as I don’t really have cash here.
“Well,” the woman said. “You would have to pay a pay a partial amount right away.”
“How much would that be?”
“Oh, 200 Euros.”
I told them where to stuff their fantasy prices. I guess I will carry water all night. Eventually, the radiator should be drained after all.
Two hundred Euros. I mean, I realize this is a Saturday night emergency call, but that is just a rip-off.
I hate this country.
_Update, about Midnight_
Well the company who does maintenance here did send someone. Though they say that such problems aren’t included, I am sure they can’t be more expensive than the other guys. At the very least they’ll have no problem to send a bill instead of charging directly.
Anyway, I still say I need to move somewhere where I don’t need a heating. I have had so many problems with that stuff in the past year or so.
