Super Jabs and the Mighty Ballsack (yes, that is the name of a website) has taken a cynical but amusing view of Why men don’t want to get married. Now, you need to keep in mind what type of weblog this is – just read a few of their front page articles – but if you know me then you also know that I agree, in principle, that marriage is not a necessary part to a relationship between a man and a woman. And if you do get married – make sure you do not rush into anything and you have it all worked out.

Anyway, do read the article, I thought it was a good satire of the marriage game, if nothing else.

Those amongst you who are a little more observant than others might already have noticed that someone else snuck into my “blogroll” style links in the sidebar: My good friend [Bolanle](http://www.bolanle.net).

I’ve known Bolanle for several years. Unfortunately, I never had the chance to meet her. She’s had a web page for a long time – at s5.com – but there was just so much advertisement on that site I decided to set up a weblog for her. Right now, there’s not too much there – I did copy some of the content over, but Bolanle will have to clean things up herself.

ICQ Conacts

Over the weekend, several oddballs have contacted me via ICQ. I don’t know any of them. Some say Hi in German, some in English. One simply added me and never said a word (a Romanian girl named Miki, if the profile is truthful). One spammed me; I always send some curse-words in reply, and funnily enough this one actually replied – so I spent half an hour cussing him or her out. Not that he or she got the point..

My most recent acquisition now is some guy from Egypt: “here a male for a clean chat”. Well, clean male, I would hope so – I don’t dabble in the forbidden love; I actually prefer women. But thank you for asking.

Where the heck do these people find me? I am really wondering. It’s most certainly not ICQ or some other way that would be pretty much random, because I only ever get these people in waves, not spread evenly over the year.

I remember a wave of strange ICQ contacts a few years back. Then it was a number of girls from different countries all looking for a husband. I remember, very faintly, some Turkish chick with very bad English, and a girl from Asia – I want to say Thailand but that may be stereotypes interfering with my memories – who tried to market herself via her ethnic origin. “No, I mean, you like yellow skin on girl?”

Booooring. If that’s her most distinguishing feature, I really don’t want to talk to her.

Anyway, if anybody had a similar experience, or has any idea why these people show up so suddenly, comment below.

_Update, later on Sunday night:_ Next in line: Some strange moron from Turkey. Totally unable to answer simple questions. I have started insulting him, as I will with anybody who contacts me out of the blue on ICQ and then is too dumb to put two words together in a way that makes sense.

I wonder if I am getting hammered by that [virus that tries to "chat"](http://tc.imlogic.com/threatcenterportal/pubThreatDetail.aspx?ThreatID=3255) with you. But then I’d expect them to offer files of some kind in an attempt to infect me. So: If you want to contact me, you are very welcome to do so but **at least introduce yourself** and don’t be a complete moron.

She's Okay

Got an email from my Haitian friend Gabrielle today. Finally. She and her family seem to be doing well, despite the country’s plunge into anarchy. Well, finally some good news for a change.

Let’s see. [Yesterday](/2003/03/24/you-know-itll-be-a-crappy-day/) was annoying enough, with the hurtin’ and the workin’. Today, the misery continued. I had to go back to work. The weather turned to be really crummy (it’s raining now). I spillt juice all over my desk and keyboard (as if by miracle, my notebook didn’t suffer from the juice flood). My stomach is upset – I think because of the lunch I had at work, but I can’t prove it. It’s a bit better now. And I am not even gonna mention this one young woman, who…

Ah, well.

Maybe I ought to go to bed before I accidentally break something.

A Day with Anna

Today I spent a day with my Russian friend Anna. We picked up her plane ticket, went to the Main river in the sun, had some drinks etc. It was really nice, a wonderful day. Plus, I had my heating fixed and my iBook picked up for repairs.

Due to popular demand, I’ve added the photo to the right to the photo section. It was taken by Anna’s boyfriend in a bar called Keeper’s Lounge. This is the first "website" update in quite a while, I guess I really ought to spend more time with this stuff…

And before you ask: Yes, some day I will create a real photo album.
