Hello all together

Last days I found a lot of documents on Moritz Dietrich in saxony state-library. 1838 he started education at "Royal-Saxony-Cadets-Academy" in Dresden, 6 years. Until 1849 he was Lieutenant, since 1853 I found him in rang first-lieutenant, and 1856 he was Captain and chief of the second compagnie in 10th. Infantry-Bataillon of the "Leib-Infantery-Brigade" staying in Dresden. His deputy was 1st. Lieutenant Freiherr von Lindemann.
He is not born 1835 in Schliessburg Holstein as some told. I dont know in witch village, but he must born 1825 in saxony. And I am sure I found his father too, his name is Dr. Traugott Sigiesmund Dietrich, in 1856 he was senior-physician at "Königl. Kriegsschule - Cadetten and Artellerieschule" in Dresden, living in Ritter-Street No. 3.
If someone will know somemore he must ask me.
Regards, Herbert

Hello all together
I think I have solved the secret around Moritz Dietrich!

Our owner of this side, Nils, is also member of your big family. We have researched together and now I am persuaded, he belongs to the branch of the descendants of Johann Bernhard Otto Jeppe (Schwerin), the brother your ancestor Carl Friedrich Wilhelm Jeppe (Rostock).

Best regards, Herbert

Dear Julius John,

when I was a young girl I knew your granddad because I went to school with Anne, his daughter. Now I'm looking for her again. Would you be so kind to give me her emailadres if you can? Maybe your father or uncle remembers me, I lived with my uncle in Nedlands when I went to the Holliwood Highschool. I was homesick all the time. Hope you can get me to Anne.

Thanks for trying,

kind regards,

Liz

Comment on ITIL Nonsense by Mark

I've just done the ITIL v3 foundation course (and passed).

It's a nice idea but it's designed to make an IT department perfect for outsourcing, and if you implement it as an internal IT department, in a small business, it makes you too inflexible and costly which is exactly what the big boys want.

As an example, Company A implements ITIL and suddenly all their costs (which have been a bit distributed) become very centralised and visible to finance, including how much each service desk ticket costs.
The FD of Company A (not realising what value the in house teams bring to the business because he's just looking at the raw cost) thinks it's expensive and gets the phone call from the large contractors (you know who I mean) and makes the financial decision to oursource you because said nice large contracting organisation makes him an offer he can't refuse and will make the shareholders happy. Cue 2 years down the line when charges have spiralled and company A is spending lots more money to get original staff back in cap in hand because the nice contracting company has it's foot in the door and is turning the thumbscrews 'because it can' plus elevating the costs of existing projects. (I've seen the above done many times)

ITIL's the opposite of lean when you come to think of it. However, there is also the problem that there are multiple ways to interpret how it's written - the individual roles don't need individual people, for example. Multiple roles can be performed by the same person, but in some cases that can make people a little schizophrenic!

What struck me is that having worked for some of the big boys in the UK (NHS, Government, Contractors) and knowing how inflexible they can be, it didn't surprise me when I saw who wrote it (and who they work for) as it just seems to be one big exercise in corporate arrogance and making people ready for outsourcing easily.

In the real world (i.e. the Non-ITIL world) ITIL doesn't work because there's way too many holes in it to make it practical. Just look at how much has changed between ITILv2 and ITILv3 to see what I mean. If they can't keep a consistent standard between revisions, what's the hope for the rest of us implementing it?

ITIL v4 may be totally different again. Then what?
